Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in L&D and high-risk deliveries. This role requires commitment to providing exceptional care for patients throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum processes.

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend
• Floating: L&D nurses may float to Antepartum and Postpartum units

• Unit Type: Labor and Delivery / Perinatal
• Number of L&D Beds: 12
• Number of Triage Beds: 10
• Number of Antepartum Beds: 12
• Monthly Births: Approximately 200
• Patient Ratios: Follow AWHONN guidelines
• Fetal Monitoring System: Fetal Link
• Electronic Medical Records: Cerner

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to laboring patients, including monitoring fetal heart rates and administering medications as required.
• Assist in routine and complicated deliveries, including C-sections, and ensure sterile techniques are maintained.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including OB/GYNs and Neonatologists, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Support high-risk patients with various conditions such as hypertension, gestational diabetes, and substance abuse issues.
• Engage in patient and family education regarding the birthing process and postpartum care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
• Experience with circulating and scrubbing in C-sections is preferred.
• Familiarity with medications such as Pitocin, Mag Sulfate, and Insulin drips.
• Travel experience is preferred.

Additional Information

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Requirement: One major and two minor holidays per year.
• Uniform: Scrubs provided, must adhere to sterile requirements.
• No acrylic or overlay nails allowed during the assignment.
