Description
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neonatal care, providing high-quality nursing to critically ill or premature infants.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
- Level of NICU: Level III
- # of Beds: 26 beds
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2 or 1:1
- Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients: Premature infants, sepsis, surgical cases (e.g., gastroschisis, esophageal atresia), and ventilated patients
Shift Details
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Shift Times: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Floating Requirements: First to float to the nursery and pediatrics
Qualifications
- Years of Experience: Minimum of 3 years in NICU
- Required Certifications: BLS Certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS
- Experience with Titrating Drips: Must have experience with dopamine, dobutamine, versed, and fentanyl
Additional Information
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse covers both NICU and pediatrics without an assignment
- Neonatologist Availability: In-house 24/7 along with respiratory therapists
- Monitoring: RN will monitor patients with available telemetry
- Orientation: 3 shifts on the unit with a preceptor, plus 6 hours in the nursery and pediatrics
- Weekend and Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend, one major and one minor holiday per year
- Scrubs/Dress Code: Navy scrubs required
