Job Description

The neurosurgical unit provides unique opportunities to care for a diverse patient population, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams specializing in brain tumors, spinal malformations, neuroendovascular procedures, and epilepsy surgery. This mixed-acuity unit includes both floor-level care and a high-acuity step-down unit designed for patients with complex needs requiring hemodynamic and neurological monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough neuro assessments, including Q1 neuro checks.
• Manage advanced medical procedures such as EVDs, lumbar drains, subdural drains, and arterial lines.
• Administer and monitor medication drips such as 3% NS and Cardene.
• Provide care for patients undergoing procedures like carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm coiling/clipping, and DBS insertion.
• Assist in the management of VP shunts and seizure protocols.

Requirements

• Must have experience in a step-down or progressive care unit (PCU).
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required (New York only).
• Two (2) years of nursing experience in high acuity stroke and neurosurgery.
• Telemetry experience is necessary.
• BLS certification is required.
• ACLS certification is preferred.
• NIHSS certification is mandatory.

Schedule

Available positions offer 36 or 48 hours per week with rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
