Overview

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room/Surgery is a key member of the surgical team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role requires a commitment to maintaining patient safety and achieving optimal clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in the surgical setting, adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to facilitate effective surgical procedures.
• Monitor patient status before, during, and after surgery, promptly reporting any changes to the surgical team.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the operating room and surgical instruments.
• Educate patients and families about surgical procedures, recovery, and post-operative care.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay informed about the latest surgical practices and technologies.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted nursing license in the state of practice.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required.
• Strong clinical skills and knowledge of surgical procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
