RN - CVICU/Step
Location: Urbana, Illinois Employment Type: Clinical-Nursing Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Night, 3 x 12-hour shifts (1900-0730) Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Role Overview
The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care using the nursing process and works within the institution's philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to CVICU patients, including post-op day CABG, vascular, and ICU status patients
- Complete initial patient assessments on admission and develop plans of care based on patient and family needs
- Implement and modify plans of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures based on continuous evaluation
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date nursing documentation
- Report and correct safety hazards and incidents to protect patients and employees
- Complete hourly rounding and fulfill all departmental and unit competency requirements
- Offer constructive feedback to peers and proactively assist internal and external customers
Required Qualifications
- Valid Illinois RN license
- Minimum three (3) years of CVICU experience
- CVICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred education: BSN
