ICU RN

Overview

• Traveling ICU RN in Freeport, Illinois
• 13-week assignment
• 12-hour night shifts
• 8-bed ICU

Required Qualifications

• Illinois RN license required to submit
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• 2+ years of ICU experience
• Must be able to titrate drips
• ICU RNs run codes

Preferred Qualifications

• Code Blue Command RN experience
• Phlebotomy experience
• Previous travel experience
• Meditech experience

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3, with some lower-acuity patients
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, general medical, general surgical, stroke (TNK), DKA, PNA, and ETOH withdrawal
• Post cath recovery includes radial/femoral sites
• No CVOR
• No CRRT
• No abdominal surgical patients
• In rare cases with a balloon pump, core staff handles it
• Tele is attached to the unit, and those nurses can assist during codes
• Unit is primarily primary care nursing
• Hospitalist is in house 24/7, with daytime in-house coverage
• RT equipment is available

Scheduling

• Shifts are 0700-1930 or 1900-0730
• Scheduled on shifts most in need
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required
• No call or standby for agency
• Floating may include MedSurg, Tele, and ER with a full patient load

Orientation

• 2 twelve-hour shifts
• Resource available for documentation

Additional Notes

• Any color professional scrubs
• Travelers with previous employment at any FHN Memorial location must disclose it for a DNU check
