Registered Nurse, Emergency Department Observation Unit (ER)

Location: Randallstown, Maryland Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 14 weeks Unit: Emergency Department Observation Unit (serves adult and geriatric patients) Patient Ratio: 1:5 Shift: 3x12-hour nights, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (3x12s, 7a-7:30p also listed) Hours: 12 per day, 36 per week Local Candidates: Accepted First-Time Travelers: Accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland
• ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with Cardiac patients
• Experience with temporary pacemakers
• Experience with permanent pacemakers
• Pre/post hemodialysis experience
• Blood product administration
• PICC management
• Experience with central line management
• IV insertion skills
• Heparin protocol experience
• Experience managing non-titratable cardiac drips
• Experience with Cerner

Schedule and Time Off

• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
• Block scheduling is not accommodated; the unit uses self-scheduling
• No on-call requirement is indicated
• Time off: the system auto-approves up to 14 days or less of RTO
• Every other winter and summer holiday is required, and no RTO is approved for those
• No RTO on hard-to-fill days (e.g., Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day)

Onboarding Requirements

• Background check within 6 months of start, updated annually
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test (PPD, GOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year of start, plus TB questionnaire updated annually
• Measles, mumps, rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or a positive titer
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or a positive titer
• Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
• Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Government-issued photo ID, badge photo, and I-9/E-Verify
• Two professional references within 2 years of start
• Verification of employment for 2 workplaces within the last 7 years
• Employment application
• Facility-specific policies, consent, and parking forms to be completed and signed
• Onsite proctored EKG exam during orientation, if required by the unit description
