Registered Nurse - Stepdown Neuro

Location: Jackson, Tennessee Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (0645-1915), 36 hours per week
• No on-call requirements
• Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holiday availability required

Unit and Float Scope

• Based on the Neuro/Surgical Telemetry floor
• Must be willing to float to other MS/Tele units or the ICU (low acuity) as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid, active Tennessee or compact RN license
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Neuro PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience: minimum 1 year, with experience within the last year
• Stepdown experience
• Med Surg / Telemetry (MS/Tele) experience: minimum 1 year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke certification (NIHSS), accepted from approved providers only, updated annually; certain NIH certification providers are not accepted
• Experience with Epic

Background and Compliance

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived or worked in the past 7 years, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated with each renewal or extension
• Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during all hours of service
• E-Verify and I-9 required
• Complete application/resume and 2 clinical references (hospital evaluation also accepted)
• Review and sign appearance standards before start

Health Requirements

• Initial physical within 1 year of start, attesting to ability to meet physical job demands; not required annually
• N95 fit test within 1 year of start, updated annually; PAPR not allowed
• TB: negative PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot within 1 year of start; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 5 years of start plus annual TB questionnaire
• TB questionnaire required, updated annually
• MMR (measles, mumps, rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; low/equivocal titers require 1 booster
• Hepatitis B: titer or series; low/equivocal titers require 1 booster (signed declination form needed if booster declined)
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; low/equivocal titers require 1 booster
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (11/1 to 3/31); working candidates' deadline is 10/30; declinations and exemptions not accepted
• COVID vaccine or medical/religious exemption required before start (agency exemption form acceptable)
