Radiation Therapist

Location: Smithfield, North Carolina Employment Type: Clinical-Allied Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Days, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week Start Date: January 11 (no earlier start)

Responsibilities

• Administer radiation therapy per physician instructions and the patient's treatment plan, including routine and complex treatments such as total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high brachytherapy.
• Operate and adjust equipment, enter data, and regulate dosage.
• Assist physicians, radiation oncologists, clinical physicists, and others in preparing the physical and technical aspects of treatment plans.
• Construct patient immobilization devices as ordered.
• Maintain patient and billing records, including dosages, equipment settings, and patient reactions.
• Prepare equipment and treatment rooms, and use protective equipment and procedures to ensure safety.
• Perform quality assurance procedures per state and federal guidelines.
• Provide on-the-job clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists.

Required Qualifications

• At least 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience, with experience within the last year
• Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• Experience with stereotactic radiosurgery
• Experience with total body irradiation
• Experience with patient immobilization devices

Preferred Qualifications

• Elekta experience (strongly preferred). Without Elekta experience, 5+ years of experience is required.

Additional Notes

• Treats adult patients only; no pediatric patients.
• Local candidates preferred, but travel candidates will be reviewed.
• First-time travelers are acceptable with prior experience.
