Unit and Role Details

• The department supports neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• The position is listed as RRT within Respiratory Therapy, and the facility accepts RRT or CRT.
• Float scope: Adult ICU/ED and NICU. Travelers may be asked to float within this scope.
• Orientation length depends on the traveler's experience and department needs.
• Electronic charting system in use (software familiarity only).

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New Jersey
• Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or RQI
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or RQI
• Experience working with Adult patients
• Experience working with NICU patients
• Experience working with Neonate patients
• Experience working with Pediatric patients
• Experience working with High Risk patients
• Experience in a Critical Care setting
• Experience in an Emergency Department setting
• Experience with intubation
• Extubation and airway management experience
• Tracheostomy care experience
• Experience with Epic

Pre-Start Requirements

• Background: 7-year criminal check within 90 days of start, updated annually; HHS/OIG and EPLS/GSA/SAM checks upon hire; education verification (highest level, official transcript accepted)
• Work history: Verification of at least 1 year prior to start (New Jersey requirement)
• Orientation: Pass/fail basic dysrhythmia exam with one attempt; failure results in contract cancellation. Signed safety manual acknowledgement, updated annually. Approximately 6 hours of facility modules completed before orientation.
• Health: Physician statement within 2 months of start; TB test (QuantiFERON Gold or T-Spot) within 90 days of start, PPDs not accepted; 10-panel or 9-panel drug screen without THC within 60 days before start; flu vaccine or exemption on file before start (declinations not accepted)
• Immunizations: Tdap within 10 years, given at age 19 or older; measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B documentation (vaccines or positive titers)
• Respirator fit test: Within 12 months of start, using an approved N95 mask
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years of start
• Skills checklist: Required for the applicable unit, updated annually
