Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Critical Access Hospital)

Location: Marysville, Kansas Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Night, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:00) Hours: 12 per day, 36 per week

Role Overview

• Med Surg RN for a Critical Access Hospital (CAH)
• Primarily assigned to the Med/Surg Floor
• Possible opportunity to serve as Charge Nurse on the shift
• Will try to group shifts, but no 6-day blocks and no 6 shifts in a row
• Locals accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• 1 year of Med Surg experience, including experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing

Screening and Clearances

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived or worked in the past 7 years, including SS trace, counties, nationwide, and sex offender searches
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated with each contract renewal or extension
• State exclusion list check (Kansas and Missouri, as applicable)
• 10-panel drug test within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Photo ID must be carried during hours of service
• E-Verify proof or attestation

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Initial physical exam, updated annually
• Tdap required
• Negative 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot within 1 year of start, updated annually (past positive requires clear chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire)
• Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella: titer or vaccine series (declination accepted for hepatitis B only)
• COVID-19 vaccination required; declinations are not accepted, but medical and religious exemptions may be considered subject to client approval
• Flu vaccination documentation required if starting during flu season (10/1 to 3/31); declinations are accepted

Documentation and Orientation

• Signed HIPAA or CORE testing for orientation safety acknowledgment
• Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluation also accepted)
• Complete employment application and resume
• Skills checklist for the applicable unit, updated annually
• Performance evaluation, if the candidate has worked with the organization for over 1 year

Dress Code

• Scrubs in any color during orientation and afterward; solid colors preferred after orientation
