RN Med Surg
Location: Hickory, North Carolina Employment Type: Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: Travelers must start on December 7, 2026 (orientation date)
Facility Overview
- 355-bed hospital
- 32-bed ED, 29-bed inpatient rehab, and 15-bed surgical suite and imaging
- Level 3 NICU
- Home to brain, cancer, heart, and lung centers, orthopedics, general and vascular surgery, surgical weight loss, and a women's center
- Separate campus with an 81-bed adult behavioral health hospital
Unit Details
- Unit: 4 North, Medical Surgical
- Beds: 18
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Patient Population: Adult/geriatric medical surgical
- Equipment: Baxter IV pumps, SCD machines, Kangaroo feeding pumps, PCA pumps
- Common Diagnoses/Treatments: COPD exacerbation, GI bleed, diabetic complications, wound care, pancreatitis, sickle cell crisis, end of life care/hospice, falls, weakness, sepsis, infection
Schedule
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements: As needed, to surgical, neuro, and intermediate units (will take med surg level patients)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Med Surg experience (2 years)
- Med Surg experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Cerner
