ER RN

Overview

• Travel RN for a 6-bed ER in a level IV community trauma care facility
• 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract
• Every other weekend required
• 2-3 shifts of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• PALS (AHA)
• TNCC
• NIHSS
• 5 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Critical access experience
• Charge experience

Unit Details

• 2 trauma bays and 4 private treatment area rooms
• 1 nurse staffed in the ER
• May be asked to task on the unit
• May float as needed

Clinical Setting

• Common patients include MI, respiratory failure, CHF, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, MVC, and other emergency cases
• ER physician coverage is available 24/7
• Nurses may need to draw their own blood
• Paramedics and EMTs may assist with care and IV starts
• RT coverage is available during the day and on call after hours
• Pharmacy coverage is available during the day; after-hours meds may be mixed by Omnicell or the house supervisor
• Mindray monitors are used
• Nurses may need to set up vents and do BiPAP if needed
