RN (Registered Nurse)

Unit
- MedSurg Women’s Care Unit
- 18 beds
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
- Holiday rotation with core staff
Required Qualifications
- Current Illinois Nursing License
- ACLS (AHA)
- BLS (AHA)
- 2 years of MedSurg experience
- Experience with NG placement
- Experience with foley placement
- Experience with blood administration
- Experience with heparin drips
- Experience with insulin drips
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- Negative drug screen required
Patient Population / Clinical Focus
- Hysterectomy
- Mastectomy
- Postpartum patients (mom’s only)
- General medical/surgical patients
Unit Details
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
- 1 charge nurse per shift
- 1 PCT for 12 patients; 2 PCTs for more than 12 patients
- CPAP used on the unit
- Patients may have a heart monitor, but RNs do not read strips
Floating
- May float to other general medical units
Orientation
- 1 shift of unit-specific orientation, with additional shifts evaluated if needed
Additional Notes
- Scrubs of any color
- Local rate applies within 50 miles
- Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours
