ICU/PCU RN

Location

• Prescott Valley, Arizona

Assignment details

• 13-week contract
• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Multi-acuity unit with 10 beds
• Care is provided within the unit across ICU, PCU, and MST acuities rather than floating between units

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• At least 2 years of ICU experience
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts before signing the contract

Unit and patient care

• ICU ratio: 1:2
• PCU ratio: 1:4
• MST ratio: 1:5-6
• If there is no nurse aide, primary care ratio is 1:3
• Common titratable or set-rate drips include sedation, vasopressors, and insulin
• RNs must take 12-lead EKGs
• ICU patients are monitored by the RN at the bedside cardiac monitor
• RT supports vents, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Remote monitor techs support PCU and MST patients

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation
• If census is low, staff rotate standby turns

Floating

• May float to EC MST and Pediatric unit to care for adult MST patients
• May float to West Campus in Prescott to care for ICU and PCU patients
• May be asked to take a full med surg team at 1:5
• May be asked to take an adult assignment on the pediatric unit
• Two-hour notice before floating

Preferred

• One year of ICU experience and one year of PCU/med surg experience may be accepted if the clinician has worked in larger facilities and has strong skills

Additional notes

• Charge RN manages 50 inpatient beds that include MST, PEDS, and an acuity adaptable MCU unit
• Scrubs may be any color except camouflage
