ER RN (Registered Nurse)

Location: Colebrook, New Hampshire (North Central NH) Contract Length: 13 weeks (open to 13- or 26-week contracts) Shift: Nights, 3 x 12-hour shifts (48 hours/week) Shift Times (as listed): 7-7:30 Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours Schedule Type: Blocked schedule

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG
• Must be willing to work strong teamwork and flexibly, including adjusting schedule and working as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• TNCC
• ENPC
• Strong IV skills

Unit and Staffing

• 7 beds and 1 trauma room
• Psych/exclusion rooms
• About 4,000 patients a year; daily volume varies
• Common diagnoses: anything
• Typically 1 nurse staffed in the ER, which could be a 1:7 ratio; the charge nurse from med-surg would be pulled to help
• No charge nurse
• ER tech on days only; no tech on nights
• Tele/ED available
• Floating: may float within the facility if needed
• Orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor

Coverage and Support

• ER MD 24/7; hospitalist on day shift and on call at night, who will come in if needed
• No RT; nurses perform all treatments
• Lab draws: yes, if lab is unavailable
• No IV team; a provider places PICC lines during the day
• Pharmacist available until 3 PM; tele pharmacy on call; day pharmacist typically has night meds mixed; nurses may be required to mix new medications ordered after hours
• Weekends: every third weekend (could be more often as needed)
• Holidays: rotate with permanent staff
• Security: no sitters; panic button available, and the police department is very responsive

• Any scrub color is acceptable if appropriate and professional
• Monitors: Mindray
• Ventilators: Newport HT70
• Described as a very friendly, team-oriented facility
