Role and Responsibilities
- This is a float team that fills staffing needs across the institution.
- Some charge responsibilities may apply on two very small units. These units are typically staffed with 1 to 2 RNs, supported by LPNs and CNAs. On these units, the sole RN functions as the Charge Nurse, with core duties such as managing staffing needs, bed flow, and general coordination. This is not the same as leading a full-size unit.
- Floating to another facility within a reasonable distance may be required, and a float policy acknowledgment must be signed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience of at least 1 year, including experience within the last year
- Experience in charge roles, including charge nurse experience
Certifications to Verify
The following may be required depending on the unit requirements. Verify against the job's requirements before submitting a candidate: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, IV certification, MAB, NIH Stroke, and CPI. If international education is involved, a CES report may be accepted while education verification is in process.
Compliance and Onboarding Requirements
- Background: Check completed within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived or worked in the past 7 years. Must be updated annually. Includes SSN trace, death master index, county and nationwide criminal searches, national sex offender search, FACIS Level 3, and education verification. An international search is required if the candidate has lived or worked internationally in the past 7 years.

- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG: Required within 30 days of start, updated monthly.
- Multistate license (if applicable): RNs with a compact license from another state must complete the WA Multi-State Licensed Demographic Attestation before starting. MMR (2 doses or positive titer), varicella (2 doses or positive titer), and Hepatitis B (series with titer, or signed declination) are required. Flu vaccine or declination is required during flu season (9/1 to 3/30). COVID vaccination record is preferred, and declinations are not required.
