MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Night Shift)

Overview

• Location: Maryville, Tennessee
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night, 19:00-07:30, 3x12 or 4x12 (12 hours per day, 48 hours per week)
• Weekend coverage: Every other weekend, subject to change based on need
• Floating: May float to other like units if needed

Clinical Focus

• Patient profile: Higher oxygen demands, dialysis patients, atrial fibrillation (afib), post-heart-cath patients
• Care level: Step-down from ICU, with no vents or pressor support
• Infusions: Heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, sotolol initiation, and telemetry drips

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Stepdown experience (1 year), with experience within the last year
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or RQI
• BLS issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or RQI
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic

Compliance and Onboarding

• Driver's license or state ID: Required immediately upon signing for computer access; must be carried on duty
• E-Verify or attestation
• Background checks: 7-year background check completed within 12 months of start; OIG and EPLS/SAM searches within 30 days of start, repeated every 30 days; OFAC search required
• Education: Highest level of education verified; diplomas are not accepted as placeholders
• Drug screen: 5-panel (instant is acceptable) within 12 months and updated annually; a positive marijuana result is an automatic cancel; one retest allowed for a dilute result
• Badge photo: Required, sent the Tuesday before start, following specific background and face-visibility rules
• Contractor acknowledgment: Signed within 24 hours of signing the contract
• Floating policy: Must be signed and renewed annually
• Handbook/orientation documents: Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment (HIPAA form, renewed annually)

Health Requirements

• Physical exam: Physician statement within 1 year of start, attesting to ability to perform the physical demands of the position
• TB: Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 90 days of start, or a 1-step PPD if a qualifying test was done within the last 12 months; annual TB questionnaire
• Immunity: Rubeola (measles), mumps, rubella, and varicella titer, or two vaccines; Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination (updated annually)
• Influenza: Seasonal flu vaccine documentation or an approved medical/religious exemption on file by the deadline
• Respirator fit test: Completed onsite during orientation

Competencies and Testing

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam: Completed within 1 year of start and required annually
• Competency exam: Completed within 1 year of start and required annually
• Core Parts I-III: Annual training, with an exam score of at least 80%
• Pre-assignment testing: Medication test only; passing score of 84%, two attempts, and a 48-hour window to complete after assessments are received
• Online orientation modules: About 12 hours, completed within 72 hours of assignment and required before clearance to start
