Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics RRT

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Ohio
• 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, including at least 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting
• Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP) certification
• Experience working with adult patients
• Experience with arterial blood sampling
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Experience with bronchoscopy assisting
• Experience with airway management

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Identification: Valid government-issued photo ID, carried on person during service hours; photo for badge
• Background:

  • 7-year criminal background check, updated for breaks in service of 2 or more months
  • Education verification
  • Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) within 12 months of start, with BCI processing taking up to 30 days
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • E-Verify proof or attestation
• Licensure: Primary source verification of license
• Drug Screen: 9-panel drug screen within the last 12 months (instant acceptable)
• Health Documents:

  • Initial physical within 12 months of start
  • TB screening: negative 2-step PPD (1st within 12 months, 2nd within 30 days of start) or QuantiFERON Gold/T-SPOT within 12 months of start; past positives require a clear chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunity proof for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (2 vaccines or positive titers; declinations not accepted)
  • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Tetanus/diphtheria/Tdap on official immunization record (declinations not accepted)
  • Flu vaccine is not required but strongly encouraged
• References: 2 recent clinical references within 1 year of start
• Competencies: Unit-specific competency exam and skills checklist required, updated annually
• Training: HealthStream modules must be completed immediately upon receipt, and traveler may be pulled from the unit if not completed on time
