Responsibilities

• Performs all mammography exams (screening, diagnostic, stereotactic biopsy, and bone density (DXA)) in accordance with hospital protocols and policies without assistance, after successful completion of initial orientation and training.
• Verifies patients by identification band and verbal response, comparing two identifiers with the requisition and chart.
• Confirms the correct exam by checking the chart or prescription, and requests and documents order clarification as needed.
• Selects technical factors based on body habitus, pathology, and body part, and positions patients properly during the procedure.
• Explains the procedure, its length, and expectations, and assists patients with appropriate attire.
• Verifies that images have transferred successfully and are of high quality before forwarding them to radiologists for interpretation.
• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the imaging equipment in use.
• Maintains documentation and data required by the accrediting body in accordance with MQSA standards (mammography technologists only).
• Maintains acceptable completion times based on procedure complexity and patient condition.
• Maintains a professional image, provides excellent customer service, and completes annual age-specific care training.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Mammography Technologist license in South Carolina
• At least 1 year of Mammography Technologist experience, with experience within the last year
• Mammography RTR-M
• ARRT or NMTCB
• SCRQSA
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Valid driver's license

Onboarding Requirements

• Immunizations: MMR and Varicella (proof of 2 immunizations or titer with lab printout) and Hepatitis B (proof of 3 vaccinations or titer with lab printout). No declinations accepted.
• TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA. First within 1 year, second within 30 days of start. A negative Quantiferon (Q-Gold) or T-Spot completed within 90 days prior to start is also acceptable.
• Drug screen: 10-panel, completed within 30 days of start. Rapid drug screens are not accepted.
• Background check: Includes county, statewide, national search, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, NSOP, SS trace, and education verification. Completed within 60 days of start, covering the last 7 years, and updated annually.
• Documents: Valid driver's license or state ID and Social Security card (copies).
• Profile: Resume or profile required for submission. References preferred but not required.
• Skills checklist: Clinical competency skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually.
• Assignment form: Standard confirmation of assignment form, available in the document library.
