RN - Med/Surg

Location: Grand Junction, Colorado Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 3 x 12-hour shifts (1900-0730) Hours: 36 hours per week Weekends: 8 weekend shifts per 8-week schedule On-Call: Optional

Responsibilities

• Performs independent and delegated nursing functions under accepted practice standards set by the state Board of Nursing
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, including ongoing health data collection and assessment
• Performs health teaching and counseling, and provides supportive and restorative therapy and treatment, directly or through consultation, delegation, supervision, or teaching of others
• Executes delegated medical functions, refers patients for further evaluation or treatment, and reviews and monitors therapy and treatment plans
• Documents in accordance with facility and regulatory guidelines
• Promotes the organization's mission, vision, and values, and follows service behavior standards
• May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need
• May be required to be placed on call during a regularly scheduled shift

Requirements

• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing, or graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado (Single State or Compact RN License)
• Certifications: BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Additional certifications: ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate for unit or service
• Experience: 1+ years of Med Surg experience, with Med Surg experience within the last year

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing
• Previous experience as a Registered Nurse
• ACLS (American Heart Association)
• NIHSS
• Certification as appropriate for unit or service
