Stepdown/MedSurg RN

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (48 hours per week)

Unit Details

• Unit: 7 West (Stepdown & Floor)
• Beds: 32 total (12 Stepdown, 20 Floor)
• Ratios: 1:3 for Stepdown; 1:4-6 for Floor. Runs with 4 nurse aides if fully staffed for 32 beds.
• Patient Population: Typical MedSurg population, including chest pain, COPD, AMS, pneumonia, UTI, abdominal pain, overflow for most services, and hospice (patients may be flipped to GIP Hospice on 7 West)
• Drips: Titratable drips are run in Stepdown. The floor receives PCAs, heparin, and similar.
• Telemetry: Yes. RNs must be able to read strips in conjunction with the telemetry monitor techs who continuously monitor strips.
• Charge Nurse/Supervision: A charge nurse is budgeted per unit, and a house supervisor is always available.
• RT Equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, etc.): Managed by RT.

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification
• COVID-19 vaccination. Fully vaccinated means 2 doses of Moderna or Pfizer, or 1 dose of J&J. Medical or religious exemptions require an exemption form, submitted as soon as possible because approval goes through a council.
• Unexpired driver's license, with a copy included in submission
• Driver's license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility

Scheduling

• Weekends: 2 weekends per schedule
• Holidays: Work into the permanent staff holiday schedule
• Floating: May be pulled to any floor or stepdown unit
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue

Submission Restrictions

• Only 2 candidates may be submitted per opening. If the position is at maximum, submissions are held until a spot opens.
• Only 1 position may be submitted at a time across the system.
• Travel teams must be submitted together in one email.
• Previous permanent staff must have been gone for 2 years.
• Previous travelers who worked there for 1 full year must have been gone for 2 years.
