Respiratory Therapist (RT) - Nights

Location: Canon City, Colorado Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
• RRT or CRT (either accepted)
• Neonate experience with bubble CPAP and ventilator

Role Details

• Patient population: Mostly adults, with some pediatric and neonatal patients
• Care areas: Inpatient, outpatient, and ER
• Treatments: 10-30 per day
• Duties: Draws ABGs and performs EKGs
• Intubation: Not required to intubate independently
• Equipment: Puritan Bennett 980 ventilators; C1 Hamilton CPAP and BiPAP; AirVo and Vapotherm high-flow; Fisher & Paykel bubble CPAP
• Supervision: Respiratory manager and lead therapist
• In-house physician: Hospitalist in house
• Night coverage: Only therapist on shift, with a second therapist on call

Schedule and Coverage

• Scheduling: No self-scheduling; night shift coverage needed
• Weekends: Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights
• Holidays: Holiday coverage required
• On call: About 4 days per month, with a 1-hour response time
• Orientation: Department-specific orientation with preceptors, 6:30 PM to 7 AM on Sat-Mon call coverage. Clinicians must be in state for the orientation week, though first-day modules may be remote.

Floating

• No floating outside of RT
• In an extreme need, may float within Zone 1 facilities only
