Description
RN CVICU
Location: Nashville, TN Employment Type: Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- Unit: CVICU, 16 beds
- Patient Ratios: 1:2, or 1:1 for certain device patients
- Staffing Support: Free-floating charge nurse; unit secretary and administrative care tech available Monday to Friday, 0730-1530; student nurse externs on variable shifts who assist with tech duties
- Equipment: Bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, Alaris IV pumps
- Team Highlights: Five full-time surgeons performing high-volume, advanced cardiac surgeries; intensivist assigned to the unit 24/7; specializes in post-operative cardiac surgery care and devices
Procedures Performed on Unit
- Immediate post-operative cardiac surgery care, including ECMO, Centrimag, and HM3 LVAD patients
- Central line insertion, Swan-Ganz insertion, intubations, and other unit procedures
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- CVICU experience (2 years)
- CVICU experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with pulmonary artery (PA) catheters
Float Policy
- C/L employees float as needed, typically to other ICUs, but may include other floors.
Schedule
- 2 weekends per month
- 1 summer holiday: Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day
- 2 winter holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day
Dress Code
- Scrubs in black, red, or galaxy blue; scrub jackets and vests only
