RN Intensive Care Unit - CV

Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky Employment Type: Clinical, Nursing Contract Length: 12 weeks Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7p-7a), weekend and holiday rotation Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Job Summary

The RN delivers direct patient care on the unit, including assessments, treatments, admission, transfer, and discharge activities, patient and family education, and care coordination and treatment planning. Nursing practice follows evidence-based standards, hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient assessments, identifies risk factors, and develops a prioritized problem list.
• Implements patient care therapies and procedures, explains them to patients and families, and responds to changes in patient condition.
• Delegates and oversees team members' patient care activities and monitors their accuracy and completeness.
• Executes discharge orders in a timely manner and coordinates discharge plans with Case Management.
• Participates in unit quality improvement activities and core measures, such as patient falls, pressure ulcers, CAUTIs, and documentation audits.

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Valid, active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
• BLS certification
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• CVICU experience of at least 1 year, completed within the last year
• Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and/or intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
