Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)

Location: Des Moines, IA Employment Type: Temp Shift: Nights Contract Length: 13 weeks Orientation Dates: 12/7, 12/21

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa, or a compact/multistate license, at the time of submission (Nursys must reflect it)
• 2 years of Medical Surgical (Med Surg) experience in a hospital setting, verifiable in the work history, resume, or employment history
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with PCA pumps
• Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications, including heparin
• Experience with Epic
• Driver's License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Assignment Details

• Unit Information: 30 beds, 1:4-5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Patient Types: Hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery
• Drips: PCA, heparin
• Float Scope: Traveler will be required to float across all campuses of the health system.
• Holiday Requirement: Unless the unit is closed, the traveler must work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's).
• Employee Separation Policy: Past employees of the health system, whether FTE or PRN (float pool), cannot work travel in another market, regardless of their current or past facility, for 12 months after their last assignment. This does not apply to anyone who worked travel (not FTE or PRN) at the health system.
• Local Radius Rule: Locals are not allowed within 50 miles of the facility.
• Other: The unit has an emotional support canine.
