Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Detox Unit

Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 hours/week
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year
License: Active RN license (OK to submit with license)
Education: BSN not required
Trauma Level: 2

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)

• ACLS

Department & Unit Information

• Setting: Acute Detox

• Beds: 20

• Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:10 (2 RNs for 20 patients)

• Support Staff: 2 patient care technicians each shift

• EMR: Allscripts

• Medication System: Pyxis

Patient Population

• Adults 18+ entering directly from the community

• Average stay 4–5 days before transfer to Rehab

• Medical comorbidities include HTN, diabetes, etc.

• Substance use disorders

• Psychiatric comorbidities: bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, etc.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong clinical assessment skills for detox symptom management

• Med-Surg experience required

• Psych experience preferred but not required

• Must have phlebotomy experience

• Must be able to perform EKGs

• IVs not routinely used; started only in emergencies

Technician Duties

• Safety checks

• Room checks

• Vitals

• Saturday weights

• ADLs

• Rounding every 15 minutes

• Phlebotomy

• Blood glucose checks

• EKGs

• 1:1 monitoring

Other Unit Details

• No call requirement

• Every other weekend required

Floating Requirements

Travelers float first. Potential float locations:

• Rehab unit

• Clinic

• Psychiatry (adult or adolescent; escorted by security at night)
