Description
We're looking for a Medical Technologist (MT) for an immediate travel opening in Farmington, CT.
The right Medical Technologist must have 1 year of experience in a medical laboratory. Read below for additional requirements.
As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for the analytical evaluation of blood and other body fluids with accuracy and precision. The Medical Technologist will have a working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Medical Technologist must meet the requirements of the general supervisor and performance of tasks under CLIA 88 definitions.
As a Medical Technologist, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
- Perform and evaluate complex laboratory analyses on blood and other body fluids.
- Interface with medical center personnel and physicians to review lab results and confirm diagnoses.
- Perform quality assurance testing and instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Utilize microscopes, cell counters, and other high-precision lab equipment to examine and analyze blood, body fluids, tissues, and cells.
- Investigate and resolve problems and unusual situations. Ensure patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.
- Evaluate and implement new methodologies and procedures as assigned by supervisors.
- Supervise other laboratory personnel as needed.
- Use medical center and laboratory computer systems in the performance of daily tasks.
- Generate appropriate and required documentation of testing and support procedures.
Medical Technologists should be able to stand and walk for long periods, as well as bend, lean, or stoop without difficulty. Medical Technologists must have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must have 1 year of experience in a medical laboratory as a Medical Technologist. Must have experience working as a generalist (chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis).
Must have BLS and ASCP or AMT-MT or MLS National Certification. Bachelor's degree in science or a health-related field, such as chemistry or microbiology, is required.
