Description
We are looking for an EEG/Polysomnographic Technologist (EEG Tech) for an immediate travel position opening in Grand Junction, CO. The right EEG Tech should have 1 year of recent experience. Read below for more requirements.
As an EEG Tech, you will be responsible for the use of specialized electroencephalographic machinery (an EEG machine) to record the electrical activity of patients' brain waves, ensuring accuracy, and reporting findings to the patient's doctor for further analysis. EEG Techs are also responsible for preparing and caring for patients undergoing EEG testing.
TasksAs an EEG Tech, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
- Confirm patient identification, review imaging requests and explain scanning procedures to patients, providing reassurance and support as required
- Perform pre-test consultation and prepare patients for testing
- Take patient's medical history
- Explain testing procedure for all neuro-diagnostic studies to patient and family using age-appropriate guidelines
- Apply electrodes to a patient's scalp, connected to the EEG machine by wires
- Observe, measure, and record the electrical activity and brain wave patterns by using an encephalograph
- Monitor patients during sleep cycles to diagnose sleep disorders
- Report test results to the physician who requested the test
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Maintain EEG equipment
Must have 1 year of experience. Must have BLS and ABRET National certification.
EEG Techs should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean or stoop without difficulty. EEG Techs must have a sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
