PCU RN Position - Albuquerque, New Mexico

Job Summary

  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
  • Ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document individual patient needs and responses.
  • Coordinate patient care through collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document accordingly.
  • Identify and meet patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout care.
  • Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel clinically.
  • Work in a low turnover, medically complex patient population awaiting community placement.
  • Patient population is Med/Surg level without direct ICU escalation; strong assessment skills required to recognize patient deterioration or de-escalation.
  • Charge nurse experience preferred but not required.
  • Floating between departments or locations within 20 miles is required.
  • Weekends and on-call/call-back as needed.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years current experience in an 18+ bed telemetry/progressive care unit.
  • Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Epic EMR.

Education Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Current State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross).
  • Must pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia/Dysrhythmia Assessment (BCA) exam prior to or during the first week of assignment; failure to pass results in dismissal.
  • NIHSS certification preferred.

Note: This position requires passing an onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia test with one opportunity to retest if failed.
