Job Opportunity: Scrub/Surgical Tech

Job Summary

Provides assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures in the Operating Room. Works under the supervision of the surgeon to facilitate a safe, effective, and orderly operating room environment to maximize patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Float between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles.
• Prepare and maintain sterile field and surgical instruments.
• Perform instrument counts before and during procedures.
• Prepare patient skin and position/re-position patients during surgery.
• Monitor patients during surgery and provide supportive care in the pre-operative phase.
• Handle and route specimens correctly.
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medications used intraoperatively, and aseptic techniques.
• Follow all federal, state, and departmental safety procedures.
• Stay current with developments in the field through seminars, workshops, and publications.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of current experience in a large Operating Room setting.
• Must be a team player, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience in Orthopedics (Ortho), Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), and/or Vascular surgery is a plus.
• Experience with Epic software preferred but not required (training available on-site).

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, plus one of the following:

  • Completion of a Surgical Technician training program (verified at interview) or graduation from an accredited school.
  • Certified Surgical Technician credential from NBSTSA or NCCT with 10 years of experience.

Certifications & Licensure

• BLS certification required (American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross).
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) through NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery certification through NCCT.
