Job Opportunity: Coding Quality Review Educator
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Job Summary
Perform internal quality assessment reviews on coders to ensure compliance with national coding guidelines and organizational policies. Coordinate and direct coding educational activities, provide training and presentations, and communicate outcomes to improve coding accuracy, data integrity, and physician documentation quality. Assist leadership with root cause analysis, account reviews, and training document preparation related to coding quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform quality reviews (routine, pre-bill, policy-driven, incentive plan-driven) for inpatient and outpatient coding.
- Provide education on Coding Integrity Specialist (CIS) and Coding Quality Review (CQR) topics as needed.
- Initiate rebilling processes per policy on special projects.
- Research coding opportunities and escalate issues as necessary.
- Assist in process improvement, education, troubleshooting, and prioritization of coding issues.
- Develop and deliver coding education and curriculum.
- Monitor QA results to support root cause analysis and identify educational opportunities.
- Ensure coding staff adherence to coding guidelines and policies.
- Maintain or exceed 95% productivity and accuracy standards.
- Conduct annual education needs assessments and communicate trends to leadership.
- Coach and mentor coding staff to develop their skills.
- Provide expert-level coding support and participate in special projects.
- Apply adult learning principles in educational program development and delivery.
- Demonstrate high levels of customer service and adherence to company ethics and values.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory coding systems: ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT-4, Modifiers, MS-DRGs, POA assignment, APR-DRGs, and APCs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or Health Information Technology (HIT) preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of acute care inpatient/outpatient coding experience (required).
- Minimum 3 years of coding auditing/monitoring experience (strongly preferred).
- Proven experience in coding education (strongly preferred).
- Certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC required.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
