Job Summary
The Radiologic Technologist I performs diagnostic radiographic examinations with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include patient positioning, operating radiology equipment, and ensuring radiation safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce diagnostic radiographic exams by positioning patients and selecting appropriate technical factors.
- Use immobilization devices and operate equipment for specific procedures.
- Restrict radiation exposure to unaffected areas using cones and collimators.
- Perform portable x-ray exams in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
- Identify and mark patient films correctly.
- Develop x-ray films using available processing methods.
- Complete patient requisitions with necessary details.
- Maintain orderly x-ray room as directed.
- Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist physicians in administration.
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, patient instruction, and record maintenance.
- Assist patients with mobility related to x-ray procedures.
- Physically able to lift at least 5 lbs, push/pull 10 lbs, and stand for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
- Adapt care to meet the needs of diverse patient populations, including communication adjustments.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- New Jersey State License.
- Eligibility to meet National Registry requirements and pass the examination.
Experience Requirements
- No specific years of experience required.
- No prior travel experience required.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift a minimum of 5 lbs.
- Ability to push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs.
- Ability to stand for at least 6 hours per day.
This position is suitable for Radiology Technologists seeking a clinical allied role in New Jersey with a 10-week contract.
