Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: 13 weeks (89 days ≈ 13 weeks)


Job Description

Under immediate to general supervision, the Surgical Technician provides technical assistance in operating rooms, labor and delivery, or other surgical procedure areas.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Use Physician’s preference cards to prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
  • Prepare sterile fields by opening instruments and supplies using sterile technique.
  • Perform surgical scrub prior to patient entering the room.
  • Assist in preparing the operative field, including draping the patient.
  • Preserve and correctly identify operative specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Obtain and ensure proper functioning of special equipment (e.g., electrosurgical machines, diagnostic lights).
  • Manipulate instruments to aid surgeon efficiency and patient safety.
  • Observe surgery progress and provide additional instruments or supplies as needed.
  • Recognize and correct breaks in sterile technique.
  • Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as directed.
  • Clean or sterilize contaminated instruments, equipment, and supplies; clean operating room areas; dispose of soiled linen.
  • Assist in training other surgical technicians.
  • If assigned to Labor and Delivery, perform clerical and technical direct patient care activities.

General Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school/program for Surgical Technicians.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy and first-aid methods.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric).
  • Ability to assess and interpret patient data relevant to age-specific needs.

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty Experience: Graduation from an accredited program (implies entry-level or newly graduated acceptable; no explicit years of experience required).
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not specified or required.
