Job Summary

A Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room is responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff, applies evidence-based practice, and participates in quality and safety improvement efforts. The role includes assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans, as well as patient and family education and mentoring staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
• Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
• Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
• Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as mentor/preceptor.
• Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives.
• Comply with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience.
• Valid RN license for the state of Kentucky.
