Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist I
Job Summary
This is an entry-level MRI Technologist position working under immediate to general supervision and direction of a mentor or preceptor. The role involves developing initial competencies to deliver specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology services to adult and/or pediatric patients. The purpose is to assist medical staff in diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of simple to complex conditions.
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks (89 days rounded to 13 weeks)
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient-centric care under routine or emergent conditions in various care settings (acute inpatient, outpatient physician practices, diagnostic/urgent care centers, remote clinics).
- Prepare patients for procedures and correlate clinical history with physician orders.
- Communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams to achieve clinical outcomes and operational goals.
- Utilize specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic equipment and techniques to perform diagnostic, interventional, and/or surgical procedures within scope of practice.
- Conduct post-procedure reviews to ensure documentation and technical quality meet department protocols and accreditation standards.
- Transfer images and data to archival systems, enter technical data/findings, and prepare studies for physician reporting.
- Perform operator-level quality control, cleaning, high-level disinfecting, and user maintenance per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in continuing education, professional development, and research activities to maintain competencies and improve care.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist, with recent experience within the last year.
- Experience working with pediatric patients.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Ability to work as part of a team, follow instructions, and reliably report to work as scheduled.
- Sensitivity to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
- Skill in applying principles of cardiovascular and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, patient positioning, and medical ethics.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and work precisely with names, numbers, and codes.
- Ability to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
- Discretion in handling confidential information and sound judgment.
- Ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations.
- Understanding of operations, policies, and procedures.
- Professional, polite, courteous, compassionate, and cooperative communication with staff, patients, and families.
- High level of initiative, effort, and commitment to completing assignments efficiently.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and attention to detail.
- Core knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology related to cardiovascular and/or radiologic technologies.
- Ability to apply core-level specialty theory, practices, and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze, and annotate study data or procedure documentation with general supervision.
