Sonographer - Travel Position

Location: Morristown, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical - Allied - Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations, focusing on patient comfort and satisfaction.
• Explain procedures in easy-to-understand terms and relieve patient anxiety.
• Perform ultrasound procedures and monitor patients throughout the process.
• Set up equipment to administer procedures efficiently.
• Review prior reports, images, and patient charts carefully.
• Ensure proper images are obtained, studies are complete, and appropriate techniques are used. Notify readers as needed.
• Maintain records and logs of exams performed.
• Manage inventory and supplies for the assigned area.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experienced Sonographer skilled in performing high-quality Adult Echocardiography studies following ASE & IAC Guidelines.
• Dedicated inpatient echo work experience is required, with documentation of at least 200 inpatient echocardiography cases.
• Proficient in valvular assessment with strong spectral Doppler and Pedoff skills.
• Experience with contrast echocardiography and agitated saline studies.
• Ability to work independently, recognize abnormalities, and respond quickly to critical findings.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Stress Echo.
• Familiarity with 3D echo imaging.
• Knowledge of protocols related to TAVR, Mitral Clip, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, VAD, and closure devices.
• Experience maintaining ICAEL-accredited echo lab standards.
• Experience using Philips ie33 and Epiq ultrasound systems.
• Familiarity with Epic hospital information system.

Required Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Preferred Education

• Graduate of CAAHEP or ABHES Cardiovascular Technology Program preferred.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Registered Cardiac Diagnostic Medical Sonographer credential from ARDMS or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Documentation of at least 200 inpatient echocardiography cases by institutional referral.

Years of Experience Required

• Minimum of 200 inpatient echocardiography cases (equivalent to significant inpatient echo experience).
