Radiology Tech

Location

  • Hackensack, New Jersey

Job Summary

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations with minimal supervision.
  • Position patients and use immobilization devices.
  • Select and operate radiographic equipment and technical factors based on patient needs.
  • Restrict radiation exposure to unaffected areas using cones and collimators.
  • Perform portable x-ray exams in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency room.
  • Identify and mark patient films correctly.
  • Develop exposed x-ray films using available processing methods.
  • Complete patient requisitions with necessary details.
  • Maintain orderly x-ray room.
  • Prepare and assist with administration of radiopaque contrast media.
  • Perform administrative duties including scheduling, patient instruction, film filing, and record maintenance.
  • Assist patients with mobility related to x-ray procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers considering age, culture, language, and disabilities.
  • Adhere to organizational standards and competencies.

Shift and Schedule

  • Night shift: 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM
  • Four 10-hour shifts per week (40 hours/week)
  • Every third weekend and holidays as needed
  • No on-call required

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute care facility
  • Ability to work independently in emergency room and trauma settings
  • Operating Room (OR) experience required
  • Experience with portable x-rays and pediatric patients

Physical Requirements

  • Lift minimum 5 lbs., push/pull minimum 10 lbs.
  • Stand for at least 6 hours per day
