Registered Nurse (Med/Surg) - Travel

Location: Summit, New Jersey
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Day (7 AM - 7 PM)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Job Description

• Perform thorough, systematic, and accurate patient assessments across all age groups (Pediatric to Geriatric).
• Deliver competent clinical nursing care appropriate to the medical-surgical patient population.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skill in emergency equipment and procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of nursing processes, patient progress, and education.
• Uphold professional practice responsibilities, including adherence to policies and procedures.
• Promote patient and family-centered care by responding professionally and courteously to patients, families, and coworkers.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and use of two patient identifiers.
• Use safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self and patients.
• Understand conditions, procedures, and equipment related to surgical patients; individualize care based on procedure and anesthesia type.
• Assess patient understanding and reactions to surgical procedures and instructions.
• Provide pre-operative and postoperative assessments and patient education.
• Support timely completion and evaluation of Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for surgical patients.
• Contribute to the perioperative team by prioritizing and directing patient care based on patient needs and condition changes.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
• Current RN license valid in New Jersey.
• BLS certification required.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• Availability to work weekends and 1 summer and 1 winter holiday as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Must meet physical requirements as defined by Occupational Safety standards.

This position is ideal for a Med/Surg RN with solid clinical skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
