Description
Registered Nurse (RN) Medicine - Pediatrics
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Weekends and holidays required
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Position Type: Float Pool (includes floating to multiple pediatric units)
Job Description
Provide nursing care under general supervision to pediatric patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex. Responsibilities include:
- Managing an assigned group of patients
- Documenting patient responses and changes in physician orders
- Assisting physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Monitoring physiological data and intervening as needed
- Administering medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products
- Delivering competent patient care and communicating care plans to patients and families
- Making referrals for patient care needs
- Delegating tasks to support staff
Work Environment
- Float Pool position covering:
- 34-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- 25-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
- 112-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) (limited to low acuity feeder growers)
- Acute care units including surgical, behavioral health, medical specialty (GI, neuro, respiratory), hematology/oncology, step-down, and cardiac pediatrics
- Must have Level 1 Trauma experience
- Experience with tracheostomy care, high flow oxygen therapy, and infusion therapy required
- First line for clinical skills in assigned units
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oklahoma
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Experience with tracheostomy care
- Experience with high-flow oxygen therapy
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a board-approved program
Additional Information
- Must be able to float across various pediatric units as needed
- Weekend and holiday availability is mandatory
