Registered Nurse (Med/Surg) - Travel

Location: Summit, New Jersey

Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Contract Length: 8 weeks (54 days ≈ 8 weeks)

Job Summary

Provide competent nursing care to medical-surgical patients, including pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education. Deliver patient-centered care across the continuum, demonstrating strong assessment, clinical, documentation, and professional skills. Support patient safety and satisfaction while working collaboratively within the care team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough, systematic assessments for patients from pediatric to geriatric stages.
• Deliver direct patient care and demonstrate competent clinical skills, including emergency procedures and equipment use.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing processes and patient progress, including patient education.
• Uphold professional practice standards and identify opportunities for clinical and professional growth.
• Promote patient and family satisfaction by responding professionally and maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and patient identification using two identifiers.
• Use safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self and patients.
• Individualize care for surgical patients based on procedures and anesthesia type; assess patient understanding and reactions.
• Prioritize and direct patient care based on patient needs and condition changes.
• Support timely completion and evaluation of Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders.
• Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and instructions.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience within the last year.

Physical Requirements

• Must meet Occupational Safety/OMS physical requirements.
