RN - Emergency (ED/ER)

Location: Jeffersonville, Indiana
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Day (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM), every other weekend
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Accountable for the care of a group of patients in the Emergency Department.
• Focus on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
• Responsible for supervising licensed and non-licensed staff.
• Applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Provides education and support to patients and families, and mentors/precepts staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
• Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
• Facilitate and evaluate patient and family education related to care and discharge.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and function as a mentor/preceptor.
• Promote teamwork and participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Acute care nursing experience
• Experience with Epic electronic health records system
• Demonstrated mentoring skills

Work Hours

• 12-hour day shifts, totaling 36 hours per week.
• Scheduled every other weekend.
