Description

Vascular Tech

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: Day (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, Wednesday to Friday)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Non-Invasive Vascular Tech performs non-invasive vascular testing to evaluate peripheral vascular disease. This role requires clinical proficiency in vascular physiology, diagnostic testing, patient assessment, and collaboration with healthcare teams. The technologist is responsible for accurate testing, documentation, and patient care according to departmental protocols and physician orders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform vascular history and patient assessment.
  • Verify exam orders and appropriateness based on assessment data.
  • Establish and document vascular technology diagnoses contributing to the plan of care.
  • Select and operate appropriate equipment for exams.
  • Conduct exams following departmental policies and physician instructions.
  • Identify vascular interventions based on diagnostic findings.
  • Evaluate vascular morphology and physiology.
  • Recognize and compensate for technical artifacts to optimize disease identification.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for ongoing patient care.
  • Document patient responses and exam findings, including normal and abnormal anatomy and pathology.
  • Notify physician and lead technologist of critical changes requiring immediate intervention.
  • Reassess and modify vascular diagnoses and care plans as needed.
  • Provide patient and public health education.
  • Maintain knowledge of current vascular diagnostic techniques and meet accreditation educational requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Vascular Technologist within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Vascular Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Allied Health Field.
  • Current credential in one of the following: Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Vascular Sonography ARRT (VS).
