Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Employment Type: Clinical, Nursing, Travel Contract Length: 14 weeks Shift: 1st Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week Schedule: Monday to Friday, 0700-1530
Role Summary
The Circulating Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates patient care and operating room activities before, during, and after surgical procedures in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC). The RN serves as patient advocate, supports surgical safety and efficient surgical flow, and communicates with the surgical team. Duties include managing specimens, medications, implants, documentation, and surgical counts, and supporting room turnovers and infection prevention.
This is a 100% phone-based role. The pre-admission RN reviews patient charts, triages patients against anesthesia-based selection criteria for an outpatient surgery center, and contacts patients to provide pre-procedure instructions, including medication guidance based on established protocols. The role may also coordinate communication between anesthesia providers and patients.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- At least 1 year of ambulatory surgery experience, with experience within the last year
- Experience in a procedural area or surgery center setting
- OR circulate experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Phone triage skills
- Pre-admission testing knowledge
- Experience with Epic
