Job Opportunity: RN Cath Lab (Long-Term Assignment)
Location: Kyle, Texas
Specialty: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Catheterization Lab
Job Description
- Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
- Assess, prepare, and position patients for procedures.
- Perform conscious sedation and hemodynamic monitoring as necessary.
- Prepare, implement, and document plan of care.
- Communicate patient's condition to physician before, during, and after procedures.
- Perform and/or facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures.
- Set up and provide equipment and supplies before, during, and after procedures.

- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Licensure & Certification Requirements
- Registered Nurse license required prior to hire or job transfer date.
- BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
- Advanced Life Support (ACLS) preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
Education
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.
Required Credentials & Onboarding Requirements
Licenses & Verification
- Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Driver’s License/State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements).
Certifications
- BLS (AHA required) - must be current at onboarding.
- ACLS (AHA preferred) - must be current at onboarding.
Testing & Competency
- Ascension Specialty Exam: Completed prior to first assignment, updated every 3 years, minimum 80% passing score.
- Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start and updated yearly, minimum 80% score.
- Ascension EKG Exam: Must pass with at least 80%, two attempts allowed.
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Ascension Cerner Test-Out: Cerner test results and training checklist with signed attestation required.
Health & Immunizations
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Required with specific timing prior to start; TB questionnaire updated annually.
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire.
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually.
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start, updated annually; retesting required if break in service > 90 days.
Professional Requirements
- Resume/Profile submission required.
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment.
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others completed within 30 days prior to assignment; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days.
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
- Education Verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
- Employment Verification for past 7 years; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days.
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation upon initial assignment and each extension.
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (6-hour pre-hire module).
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (done onsite).
- Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules for non-allied positions.
Optional Credentials
- Ascension Unit Specific Checklist (optional for onboarding, uploaded by unit leader).
- Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment).
- Ascension Name Change Document (legal documentation).
- Ascension Badge Photo (headshot with white or blue background).
- Ascension Exit Survey (completed within 72 hours of assignment completion).
This position requires a highly skilled RN with experience in cardiac catheterization procedures, strong clinical competencies, and compliance with extensive credentialing and health requirements.
