Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery

Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Required Credentials & Certifications

• Registered Nurse Texas License
• BLS Provider Certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (American Academy of Pediatrics)
• Advanced Life Support (ACLS) Certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification

Experience & Education

• Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery/Perinatal experience in a high-volume delivery service
• Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing school/college required
• Preferred: 3-5 years of Perinatal clinical experience in a high-volume delivery service
• Preferred certifications: S.T.A.B.L.E Program, Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification
• Preferred education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Additional Requirements for Onboarding

• Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
• Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• Completion of specialty exams and core competencies with minimum passing scores
• Health and immunization requirements including:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella (two vaccines or immunity evidence, no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • 2-Step PPD or IGRA testing for TB, with follow-up as needed
  • Fit Test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start)
  • Annual health statement or physical exam
• Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Background checks including criminal background, employment verification, and EPLS
• Professional references: at least two qualifying references prior to assignment
• Driver’s license or state ID (valid and matching address requirements)

Onboarding & Training

• Completion of Ascension-specific onboarding modules and education attestations
• Cerner system test-out and training checklist
• Skills checklist updated annually for specialty
• Various compliance and competency checklists related to HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission standards
