Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery

Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Credentials & Certifications

• Registered Nurse Texas license
• BLS Provider certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
• Advanced Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross accepted)
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification

Experience & Education

• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery/Perinatal experience in a high volume delivery service
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school/college required
• Preferred: 3-5 years of Perinatal clinical experience in a high volume delivery service
• Preferred certifications:

  • S.T.A.B.L.E Program certification
  • Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

• Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
• Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• Professional references (at least two)
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days prior to start
• Drug screening (12 panel) within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Health requirements including:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or history verified by healthcare provider, no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA testing and TB questionnaire
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite)
  • Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
• Completion of specialty and core competency exams and checklists including:

  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical specialty, updated annually)
• Completion of onboarding education and attestations including:

  • Nursing Contingent Worker Onboarding
  • Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules
  • Cerner test-out and training checklist
• Driver’s License or State ID (valid, matching address requirements)

Summary

This is a long-term RN Labor and Delivery position in Austin, Texas requiring a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and multiple certifications including BLS, ACLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring. Candidates must meet strict credentialing, health, and compliance requirements prior to assignment start. Preferred candidates have additional perinatal experience and advanced certifications.
