Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician (CV CST)

Job Description

• Regular schedule: 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday
• On-call required, including weekends and holidays
• Must be proficient in cardiovascular surgical procedures including but not limited to:

  • CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
  • Impella
  • LVADs (Left Ventricular Assist Devices)
  • VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery)
  • Heart transplants
  • Aortic work, AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm)
  • ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
  • TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) and TEVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair)
• Minimum 2 years of cardiovascular surgical experience required

Required Certifications & Credentials

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
• Current professional license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
• Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, 2 attempts allowed)
• Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% passing score, updated yearly)
• Ascension Surgical Technologist Contract Worker Onboarding Education Attestation
• Valid Driver’s License/State ID (must not be expired and meet address requirements)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
• Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred prior to start
• Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
• TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire
• Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
• Tdap: Valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted
• Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
• Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start, updated annually

Professional & Background Requirements

• Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile)
• At least two professional references prior to first assignment
• Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others (completed within 30 days prior to assignment)
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days prior to start
• Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical competency checklist completed within one year of start, updated annually
• Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days prior to start)
• Confirmation of Assignment documentation from agency
• Employment Verification for past seven years
• Post-assignment evaluation (optional)
• Legal documentation of name change (optional)
