Travel RN Medical/Surgical - Tulsa, Oklahoma

Job Summary

  • Must have experience circulating open heart cases.
  • Must have experience harvesting veins.
  • Schedule: Tuesday to Friday.
  • Must take call, work weekends and holidays.
  • Provides direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Implements and monitors patient care plans.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition.
  • Coordinates care among all disciplines.
  • Carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient discharge planning.
  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
  • Follows Standard Precautions and uses personal protective equipment as required.

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Current nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Pharmacology Exam (Ascension Pharmacology Exam) with minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years.
  • Medical Surgical Exam (Ascension Medical Surgical Exam) with minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics) completed within a year of start, updated yearly, minimum 80% score.
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist completed within one year of start; updated annually.
  • Ascension Education Verification within 90 days of start.
  • Ascension Employment Verification (7 years) within 90 days of start.
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check within 30 days of first assignment.
  • Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) run within 90 days of start.
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment upon initial assignment and updates with extensions.
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation.
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding.
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules.

Required Health and Immunization Documentation

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually.
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Positive PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days of start.
  • Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted.
  • Tdap: Valid for 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start; updated annually.

Additional Information

  • Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start.
  • FACIS Questionnaire required if any disciplinary actions.
  • Must comply with all Ascension onboarding and testing requirements.
  • Some optional checklists may be required by unit leaders.

This position requires a highly skilled RN with specialized cardiac surgical experience, strong critical thinking, and the ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts. Compliance with extensive credentialing, immunization, and onboarding requirements is mandatory.
