Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery (Travel)

Location: Hoffman Estates, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Facility Information

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • NRP (AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Current nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • License/Certificate primary source verification within 30 days prior to start

Required Exams & Testing

  • Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, updated yearly)
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, completed within 1 year of start, updated annually)
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)

Onboarding & Professional Requirements

  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
  • Ascension Biometric Consent
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip (pre-hire modules for non-allied positions)
  • Ascension Criminal Background Check (7-year search, updated annually or after break in service)
  • Ascension EPLS (within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days)
  • Ascension Education Verification (within 90 days of start, rerun if break in service > 90 days)
  • Ascension Employment Verification (past 7 years, updated annually or after break in service)
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (agency letterhead, updated with each extension)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred prior to start (updated annually)
  • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Positive PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire (optional)
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within 30 days of start
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Resume/Profile submission required
  • At least two professional references required prior to first assignment
  • Driver’s License/State ID must be current and match address requirements
  • Some optional checklists may be required by unit leadership after onboarding

This position requires a highly qualified RN with labor and delivery experience, current certifications, and compliance with Ascension Health’s onboarding and credentialing standards.
